From November 17th to 20th, we'll be at Formnext 2026 in Frankfurt, Germany. You'll find us in Hall 11.0, Stand E29 , where you can learn more about our solutions for the extraction and controlled management of metal and polymer powders.
Why is dust management critical?
In additive manufacturing, powder management involves all stages of the process. It begins with the extraction of unsintered material from the print chamber and continues with recovery, sieving, transfer, and possible reuse.
Choosing the right dust extraction, collection, and handling method starts with the specific application. Delfin works with each client to develop a customized solution, evaluating the type, magnitude, and properties of the dust, the work environment, and the planned operations.
How do delfin vacuums solutions change depending on the type of dust?
Examples include fine airborne dust and fumes, which require effective extraction at source. Combustible dust must be collected with ATEX-certified vacuum cleaners in a specific work area.
Special attention should be paid to reactive metal powders, such as aluminum and titanium. In these cases, dedicated neutralization systems are required, such as our range of vacuum cleaners with INERT containers, specifically designed to extract and collect inert powders in an oil bath.
Designing the extraction solution based on the dust and the process helps protect operators and keep operations under control. Alongside these requirements, the value of the material used must also be considered: hence the importance of exploring recovery and potential reuse options.
From recovery to reuse: valorize your powders
Recovering powder is the first step in evaluating its potential reuse in the production process. At Formnext, we will present Delfin's industrial extraction and powder handling solutions for metal and polymer powders: an opportunity to learn more about your application's needs and the possibilities for material recovery. From dust extraction to printer feeding, Delfin technologies support the various phases of material management:
- extraction of unsintered powder from the print chamber;
- localized extraction of fine dust and fumes;
- cleaning of printers, components and work areas;
- collection of combustible dust;
- management of reactive metal powders;
- recovery and sifting of the material;
- pneumatic transfer of powders;
- 3D printer power supply;
- integration with OEM machines and systems.
