Toner is a very fine powder containing particles of carbon, iron oxides and resin.

It is used in printers, copiers and fax machines.

Initially composed of only carbon powder, it was later combined with a polymer to improve its performance.

Toner printers release particles into the air ranging in size from 1 to 1/10 µm (and recently detected up to 23/1000 of a micron). These tiny particles can cause serious health problems for waste disposal workers, as well as environmental and recycling damage.

The following are some general preventive protection recommendations to reduce the risk of exposure to toner dust, as well as specific measures to counteract the effects of high exposure.

General information:

  • Place the appliances in a large, well-ventilated room.
  • Do not direct the air exhaust vents towards people.
  • Perform regular maintenance on equipment.

Indications in case of heavy exposure:

  • Clean the appliances with a vacuum cleaner with certified filtration .
  • Do not use compressed air devices.

Delfin supplies many companies operating in the recycling sector with units for the extraction of toner dust (such as the Mistral 202 ds ) produced during the regeneration of laser printer and photocopier cartridges.

Thanks to an industrial vacuum cleaner , it is possible to carry out the cleaning, emptying and refilling of the cartridges in an efficient, ecological and above all safe way.
