The project was developed for an Italian company specializing in rice production and processing.
The requirement was to automate the transfer of whole grain brown rice from the hulling machine to the roller polisher, enhancing safety and production efficiency within a facility with very limited space. Due to the limited available space, it was not possible to install traditional bucket elevators.
Logistical constraints and manual labor
Before Delfin’s intervention, the line was not automated and presented significant challenges:
- Manual handling: the operator had to manually move steel containers or buckets between machines.
- Ergonomic risks: the need to physically transfer the product increased the risk of injuries and fatigue.
- Reduced efficiency: productivity was limited by the speed of manual handling and the need to constantly monitor the equipment.
The layout of the facility didn't allow for the use of traditional mechanical solutions, making a compact and space-saving system crucial.

Delfin supplied a customized PRO.288E MF TNG pneumatic conveyor, specifically designed for confined spaces:
- Compact design: installed near the bleaching machine, close to the ceiling.
- Flexibility: flexible tubular conveyor system that does not require invasive structural modifications.
- Full automation: continuous transfer of brown rice between the husking and polishing stages.
The system has made it possible to overcome the architectural limitations of the facility, ensuring high performance in a very small space.
