The project was developed for a major dairy company based in Poland.
The requirement was to automate the transfer of grated cheese from the grater to the packaging machine equipped with a multi-head weigher, aiming to improve efficiency, hygiene, and space management in the production area. The previous system, based on a large-scale elevator conveyor, significantly limited layout flexibility.
Hygiene and downtime
The system based on a traditional elevator belt presented unsustainable issues for a modern food plant:
- Excessive footprint: it occupied a large area, preventing the optimization of the production layout.
- Complex sanitization: cleaning operations required as many as 4 operators working for 4 consecutive hours.
- Limited flexibility: difficulty in reconfiguring the line or ensuring rapid cleaning between production cycles.
In the dairy industry, rapid sanitization is a critical factor in preventing microbiological risks and ensuring operational continuity.
TECH420E CUSTOM pneumatic conveyor
Delfin designed a solution based on the TECH420E CUSTOM model in a special configuration:
- Direct integration: flexible conveyor line connected to the vibrating sieve fed by the cheese grater.
- Mobile design: conveyor mounted on a horizontal positioner to facilitate handling operations.
- Rapid sanitization: system designed for quick disassembly without the use of complex tools.
The new configuration has completely replaced the mechanical belt, bringing automation directly to the multihead weigher.
Significant reduction in maintenance costs
- Operational efficiency: sanitization times have dropped from 4 hours with 4 operators to just 20 minutes with 2 operators.
- Space savings: recovery of usable floor space in the department thanks to the elimination of the bulky elevator conveyor.
- Constant feed: smooth and controlled flow of grated cheese to the packaging machine.
- Guaranteed hygiene: elimination of accumulation points typical of open conveyors, reducing the risk of contamination.
